The Mercedes S Class is famous for being Mercedes’ flagship model, and this is a truly luxurious car in every sense with literally no expense spared in creating one of the most luxurious and comfortable cars in the World.
The S Class series has been produced by Mercedes since the 1950’s and as their top of the line model has always been the most innovative car in the Mercedes range, and it’s achievements in innovation over the years include the S Class being the first car in Europe to be fitted with airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and ESP (traction control).
Not only is the S Class a luxurious and innovative top of the range Mercedes model, but it is also one of the safest cars on the road (confirmed by statistics from the UK Department of Transport) and packed with safety features as part of Mercedes ‘Pre Safe’ system (introduced in 2002).
Please note that this is the face-lifted version of the S Class. The series underwent a comparatively major overhaul in 2002 which included some cosmetic improvements (including clear headlight lens’ rather than the older style opaque ones), as well as some mechanical improvements including the introduction of Mercedes Pre Safe system.
This is the L model S Class (with the ‘L’ standing for ‘Limousine’), so the car has a longer wheelbase than the standard model, increasing the length of the car as well as rear passenger leg room to give all passengers the full luxury experience.
The car is fitted with countless features to maximise driver and passenger comfort, some of which are standard in this high-end Mercedes model, some of which are added optional extra’s. See the list at the end of this description for a full list of features, but some of the notable ones include full Sat Nav system, automatic boot opening and closing, soft close doors front and rear, electric seats front and rear, comfort seats, Parking sensors front and rear, electric rear blind, electric head rest drop, memory seats – it really is packed to the gills with the extra refinements that make the S Class stand head and shoulders above its competition.
This model is fitted with the superb 5.0 litre Mercedes engine, which provides a thrilling 306bhp provided with a level of comfort, luxury and refinement only found in a Mercedes.
THE EXTERIOR:
The car is finished in dark blue and is in excellent condition all-around.
The 16 inch Mercedes alloy wheels are also in excellent condition and, along with the air suspension system, provide the car with a superbly smooth and refined ride (one of the main factors that the S Class is famous for).
This car is also fitted with the optional extra factory fitted parking sensors (Parktronic) on both the front and the rear to aid parking.
The boot opens automatically by using the key remote button, or button within the car, and closes again with a touch of a button within the boot lid. The boot closed, and pulls itself shut (soft closure) – so no more boot slamming or having to put down your shopping to open the boot.
Additionally, this car is fitted with an additional option which we’ve not seen fitted on an S Class of this age – full door soft closure. So, like the boot, no more slamming of doors is required – simply pull the door inwards until contact is made and the door will pull itself shut. A simply wonderful feature!
THE INTERIOR:
As is to be expected from a top of the range Mercedes model, the interior is sheer luxury and finished to the highest standard.
The seats are finished in cream leather, and all seats are in excellent condition. There are no tears, rips or stains and are exactly as they should be. Additionally, all four seats are heated.
The car has electric adjustable seats for ALL FOUR occupants. Both front seats memorise up to four different positions, so if you and your partner drive the same car, simply open the door, press the memory seat button (inside of the door) and it will automatically adjust the seat, steering wheel, headrests and door mirrors to your own unique settings before you even step into the car!
It’s quite unusual to find the S Class with the electric rear seats, but this one has them fitted and allows each passenger to fully adjust their seat, which are also heated. Additionally, the passengers can control their folding headrests electrically also.
The car is fitted with the optional extra Mercedes Command system, which is an integrated CD player, radio, Sat Nav system (Note CD is present and correct) and telephone system.
The car is fitted with parking sensors for both front and rear and are 100% fully functioning and very useful when parking. Additionally, the rear passenger headrests automatically fold backwards at the touch of a button on the dashboard, allowing for maximum possible visibility for the rear window when no passengers are on board – a very nice touch and very useful.
SERVICE HISTORY:
The car has a FULL MERCEDES BENZ SERVICE HISTORY and comes complete with the stamped Mercedes Service Log book.
The car was recently serviced with Mercedes Benz of York and was carried out at 57,383 miles. The car now has a full 9,000 miles showing on the onboard computer before the next service is due.
