The Audi RS6 is a driver’s dream-car. Not only are they extremely powerful, but they are also four wheel drive (Quattro) and offer superb handling coupled with an exhilarating driving experience.
At 1st Class Marques we’re RS6 enthusiasts, and it’s one of the models that we specialise in so it’s rare that we don’t have at least one RS6 in stock! Please be sure to check out our Previously Sold car list (link at bottom of our homepage) to see some of the RS6’s we have supplied in the past (note that cars are generated 30 cars at a time at random, so refreshing the page will show a different selection each time!)
This really is a cracking example, and comes with an extensive service history, mostly by Audi main dealers. The cambelt was also changed in March 2012 at 90,950 miles so no concerns there, and additionally the car has had a gearbox service in December 2011 at 89,166 miles – so it’s certainly been a car that’s been more than well looked after!!
In addition, the suspension system has been changed from the factory standard DRC system to Bilstein adjustable coilovers. The coilovers essentially replace Audi’s DRC suspension system, which can be very costly to replace when they fail. Replacing the DRC system with coilovers is one of the most popular upgrades for RS6’s.
Another concern for potential RS6 owners is the cam belt change because it is very expensive on these cars (circa £1,300 + VAT). This was done at 90,950 miles, and included rear tension dampener (often excluded) as well as the auxiliary belt and water pump.
What must be noted here, and also considered a major selling point for this car, is the custom exhaust system. Often modified RS6’s have Milltek exhausts fitted, which make a lovely deep grumbling sound – but what we have here is completely unique and a completely different beast altogether…
This car has a custom-made Janspeed exhaust, and the exhaust tone is completely different to a Milltek. It has a much brighter, higher tone than the grumble of a Milltek. It has a real supercar sound where the sound of the car literally ‘screams’. It has a much more F-1, Lamborghini or Ferrari tone. It certainly makes people take notice!!
Whilst on the subject of the exhaust, the previous owner has had custom twin tailpipes made for the car with no resonators for maximum sound. Make no mistake – this really is a loud exhaust! The original Janspeed tailpipes with resonator boxes are included with the car and can be used to tone the sound down if required (as if!!)
The car is finished in stunning Mugello Blue which really looks stunning with the privacy glass, and the car has full silver leather interior (this has a cream look to it, but is technically called ‘silver’ by Audi as it’s actually an extremely light shade of grey) and is absolutely packed with gadgets and gizmo’s (see the specification list below).
The car also has had it’s wheels refinished in the dark grey colour that is used on the RS6 Plus, and also has had a mesh effect added to the headlights to darken their overall appearance by 20-30%. These extra touches along with the privacy glass really do lend the car a very ‘mean’ and sporty look and feel.
If you want a real mean-machine with a one-off sound that it’s impossible not to love then your search is over!
THE EXTERIOR:
The car is finished in glorious Mugello Blue and is in excellent condition all-around. The car has also been recently fitted with privacy glass, which looks superb against the blue bodywork and silver external trims.
The car is fitted with the original 19†Audi RS6 alloy wheels, which have been refinished fairly recently so are in good order. They have been refinished in the dark grey colour that is used for the RS6 Plus wheels.
Additionally, the headlights have had an adhesive ‘mesh’ fitted which darkens the overall look of the headlights by 20-30% to help lend to the overall ‘mean’ look of the car. We had considered removing this adhesive mesh, but it really does look too good!!
The car has been fitted with privacy glass (not factory standard on RS6’s!) which really does finish off the great look of this car – especially coupled with the wheel and headlight colouring.
The car is finished with chrome trim around the windows, on the mirrors and also on the roof rails (which really does compliment the bodywork colour), and the car also has parking sensors on both the front and the rear – a very useful feature!
THE INTERIOR:
As is to be expected from a top of the range Audi sports model, the interior is sheer luxury and finished to the highest standard.
The seats are finished in ‘silver’ (many people mistake this for cream, but it’s technically a very, very light shade of grey – hence the name) and are in excellent condition. There are no tears, or rips and all seats are exactly as they should be.
These are the official RS6 Recaro seats and the front seats are both electric. The seats are also heated – as are the rear seats!
This particular car is also fitted with rear window blinds, as well as the electrically adjustable steering column – both of which are optional extras.
The roof interior is completely lined with Alcantara (similar to suede) – which is in excellent condition – and this really is a luxurious touch that finishes off the interior beautifully. Unusually, this is finished with the lighter cream (silver) headlining rather than the more common dark grey, and it really does lighten up the interior and open up the ‘feel’ of the cabin.
The car is fitted with a full colour Sat Nav Plus head unit, and also has a retro-fitted iPod connection to help bring the tech bang up to date. Note that the iPod uses the same channel as the 6CD changer on the head unit, meaning that the 6CD changer does not operate as it’s not plugged in to the rear of the head unit currently. You could easily remove the iPod connection and revert back to 6CD, but this would seem a somewhat illogical step as not many people use CD’s anymore.
The dashboard and door embellishment trims are all finished in white brushed steel effect, which works really well with the silver seats, door card leather inserts, and headlining.
This is the Tiptronic model and so has the gear shift paddles on the steering wheel, so you can take manual control or let Auto take over for those lazy cruising days.
SERVICE HISTORY:
The car has a FULL SERVICE HISTORY from new and comes complete with the stamped Audi Service Log book.
The car was fully serviced with RAS Automotive Service (run by an ex Audi Head technician who is now self-employed) at 94,312 miles. The next service is not now due for approximately another 6,000 miles, as shown by the cars onboard service indicator.
The car benefits from having had a brand new gearbox fitted by Wimbledon Audi in 2008, at the considerable cost of £5,334. The invoice for this work is included within the paperwork with the car. So, naturally, no gearbox issues what-so-ever.
If you are serious about RS6’s then you will know that it’s essential to ensure that the cam belt is changed. Well, we can confirm that the cam belt was changed at 90,950 miles in March 2012.
Also worthy of note is that the car was recently fitted with upgraded Wagner intercoolers (both sides) complete with silicone hoses. Intercoolers often develop leaks on RS6’s, either from the aluminium housing of the intercooler, or from the feeder pipes which are rubber and often perish with time. This is a great upgrade as it resolved both potential intercooler issues.
