The Audi RS6 is a driver’s dream-car. Not only are they extremely powerful, but they are also four wheel drive (Quattro) and offer superb handling coupled with an exhilarating driving experience.
At 1st Class Marques we’re RS6 enthusiasts, and it’s one of the models that we specialise in so it’s rare that if don’t have at least one RS6 in stock! We’re delighted to be able to present this very rare black Audi RS6 Avant. It’s always surprised us how rare this car is in black – especially because RS6’s look so good in black! We’ve stocked a lot of RS6’s in the past, and this is only the second one that we’ve ever had finished in black, and glorious metallic black at that.
The car has had three owners from new (very low for an RS6) and it’s clear that the car has been the pride and joy of each owner, and has wanted for nothing. The car has had a fortune spent on it over the years, and comes complete with a massive stack of old invoices and paperwork – and even includes every MOT certificate and tax disc from new!!!
The RS6’s infamous DRC suspension issue will not affect this car as it has already had its suspension changed to KW coilovers. The KW coilovers essentially replace Audi’s DRC suspension system, which can be very costly to replace should it fail. Replacing the DRC system with coilovers is one of the most popular upgrades for RS6’s, and the H&R ones are amongst the best.
The coilovers come complete with original invoice for installation (£2,063) and with original KW owners pack complete with adjustment spanner (all unopened).
One of the concerns people often have with buying an RS6 is with the gearbox. Although generally solid and very reliable, they have been known to fail and cost a lot to repair. This particular car benefits from having had a full gearbox rebuild at 65,000 miles, complete with invoice for the work at £3,227.
It’s worthy of note that much of the work done on the car is either by Audi or D&D Auto’s of Kent. D&D Auto’s are an Audi/VW specialist and have won industry awards for best independent garage of the year – so the car has always been in very safe and capable hands!
We’d also like to mention the outstanding level of factory options that are fitted to this car – easily one of the most option-rich RS6 we’ve yet seen! It’s important to remember that RS6’s have a very high spec to begin with and luxuries such as leather seats, sat nav, parking sensors etc are all factory standard. However, in addition, this one has been fitted with these additional factory options:
• Solar Sunroof
• TV reception (analogue only)
• Rear passenger window blinds
• Rear window blind
• Rear heated seats
The car is supplied with an extensive service history, and we have a stack of invoices and paperwork with the car – perfect for preserving its heritage.
Another concern for potential RS6 owners is the cam belt change because it is very expensive on these cars (circa £1,200 + VAT), and should be done every 40,000 miles. But again this is not an issue at all on this car because the cam belt has just been changed (see service history section below).
The car is finished in stunning metallic Black which really suits the lines of the RS6, and the car has full ‘silver’ (actually light grey) leather interior and is absolutely packed with gadgets and gizmo’s (see the specification list below).
If you are after a genuine RS6 with an outstanding calibre and history and with all of the common concerns about RS6 ownership already addressed and resolved – then this would make a very fine choice indeed!
THE EXTERIOR:
The car is finished in glorious metallic Black and is in excellent condition all-around.
The car is fitted with the original 19†Audi RS6 alloy wheels, finished in the original factory silver. The brakes are also in good order, with the front and rear pads having been recently replaced, and plenty of life remaining for the discs.
The car also benefits from recent Continental tyres – circa £700 per set.
The car is finished with chrome trim around the windows, on the mirrors and also on the roof rails (which really does compliment the bodywork), and the car also has parking sensors on both the front and the rear – a very useful feature!
THE INTERIOR:
As is to be expected from a top of the range Audi sports model, the interior is sheer luxury and finished to the highest standard.
Unusually (the first time we’ve seen this on an RS6) the internal trims are finished in piano black gloss, which perfectly compliments the colour of the car.
The seats are finished in light grey leather (referred to by Audi as ‘silver’ – and although light grey many people often confuse this colour with cream), and all seats are in excellent condition. There are no tears, rips or stains and are exactly as they should be.
These are the official RS6 Recaro seats and the front seats are both electric. The seats are also heated – as are the rear seats!
The roof interior is completely lined with cream Alcantara (similar to suede) – which is in excellent condition – and this really is a luxurious touch that finishes off the interior beautifully. Most RS6’s have their lining in dark grey Alcantara, and the lighter colour really does open up the feeling of space within the cabin.
The car has the full deluxe Sat Nav and entertainment system complete with TV (note: analogue TV so redundant within the UK now), and has both front and rear parking sensors. It has just about every gadget you can think of – check out the specifications list at the end – there’s simply too much to list here!
This is the Tiptronic model and so has the gear shift paddles on the steering wheel, so you can take manual control or let Auto take over for those lazy cruising days.
SERVICE HISTORY:
The car has a FULL SERVICE HISTORY from new and comes complete with the stamped Audi Service Log book.
The car was fully serviced with 1st Class Marques at 79,224 miles. The next service is not now due for approximately another 10,000 miles.
If you are serious about RS6’s then you will know that it’s essential to ensure that the timing belt is changed as per Audi’s service schedule (every 40,000 miles). Well, we can confirm that Audi changed the cam belt at 43,326 miles, and 1st Class Marques have also changed the cambelt (along with water pump and auxiliary drive belt) ready for sale of the vehicle meaning that a cambelt change is not due for another 40,000 miles – invoices for both belt changes present and provided with the car…
Bearing in mind that the cambelt change is circa £1,200 + VAT this work should be considered as a major plus point for the future owner.
In addition to this, we also have receipts from Audi and D&D Auto’s showing the work that has been done over the years – and it shows just how well looked-after this car has been. All receipts are of course included with the car.
